News Board:

The Ben Franklin Softball League has suspended Almega Plastic's Mark Metzka for the remainder of the year and has also put the entire Almega Plastics Team on probation for the remainder of the year, for violating the League's bat policy.

5-8-11:  List of Illegal bats per ASA.  These bats were deemed illegal by the ASA but do contain ASA Approval Stamps for the years 2000 & possibly 2004.  They will not be permitted in league or championship play.  

4-26-11:  Any bat being used in the 2011 Ben Franklin Softball League must be tested by the ASA bat tester.  If the bats passes the ASA Test then a sticker will be placed on the bat.  No Bat is permitted to be used WITHOUT the approved sticker.   Remember ALL BATS MUST HAVE THE ASA APPROVED STICKER IN ORDER TO BE USED IN LEAGUE PLAY!!!!  NO EXCEPTIONS!

3-31-11:  Rules Changes for the Ben Franklin Softball League:

1.  Any person over the age of 50 and plays in division 3 or 4 will be permitted a courtesy runner.  The courtesy runner will be chosen by the opposing team.

2.  Every team will be permitted to have 12 active players in the lineup at one time.  This permits each team to have 2 extra hitters in the lineup or 1 extra hitter and 1 designated hitter.  YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED 2 EXTRA HITTERS AND A DESIGNATED HITTER.  Teams are only permitted to have 12 active players on the field at one time.  Either one of the extra hitter can switch positions in the field but CAN NOT change there position in the batting order.

2-12-11:  With the formation of a New League in Lawrence County the Ben Franklin Slo-Pitch League will once again enforce the previous rule regarding player participation in more than one Lawrence County League. Please see below:

No player(s) will be permitted to participate in the Ben Franklin League if they are participating in another Lawrence County league. Exceptions; Players may participate in the Ellwood City ASA League, since this league has been grand fathered. The Ben Franklin League will be forming a 45 & Over division; players participating in this division will be exempt from this rule. The decision of the Ben Franklin League Board of Directors will be final in all matters.                                             

Meeting Announcement: The Ben Franklin League is forming a 45 & Over division, age eligible players may participate in any division of the league as well as the 45 & Over division. There will be an organizational meeting for the 45 & Over division on Monday March 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ben Franklin Early Learning Center located at 815 Cunningham Ave. New Castle, PA

  Ben Franklin Softball League Meeting will be March 30, 2011 at the New Castle High School auditorium at 7:00 PM
